Whole Juniper Berries
Juniper berries are a must-have ingredient for fermentation and home brewing. Create your own craft beer or add them to your favourite sauerkraut recipe. Distill your own gin and blend them with your choice of herbs, spices and botanicals.
The basic ingredients for gin making are juniper berries and coriander seeds. Some of the popular flavours that are added to gin include angelica root, cassia, ginger, cardamon, nutmeg, aniseed, cinnamon or liquorice.
These berries are also suitable as a herbal tea. Place one teaspoon of herb to a cup, and use a teapot or infuser. Allow to seep for 3-5 minutes. Try adding to kombucha or kefir second fermentation for a delicious, carbonated drink.
